Legacy Data Import Tools

Follow
As a superuser of Salesforce you probably have received the below email. The current individual import tools will be replaced by one uniform import wizard. The new uniform wizard has all the functionalities from the individual wizards, but is improves the import process and makes the import process more convenient.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To provide users with the best experience, Salesforce has begun retiring the individual import wizards for accounts, contacts, person and business accounts, leads, solutions, and custom objects. The individual import wizards are no longer available in Setup. But don’t worry! You’ll be even more productive with the unified Data Import Wizard.

The individual import wizards open in small separate pop-up windows, while the The Data Import Wizard combines all the functionality of the individual import wizards into a single browser. The Data Import Wizard provides a unified interface that lets you import a variety of objects from one wizard, rather than using each individual import wizard to import a specific object. The Data Import Wizard also improves the import process with progress tracking and helpful tips during data import workflow. Depending on user permissions, the Data Import Wizard also lets you import data for custom objects.

Starting in Winter ’16, the individual import wizards remain accessible only from the Legacy Data Import Tools page until they’re officially retired. You can currently access the individual import wizards for accounts, contacts, person and business accounts, leads, solutions, and custom objects until they are officially deprecated. From Setup, click Data Management | Data Import Wizard. On the Data Import Wizard page, click Legacy Data Import Tools.

This table provides a comparison between the functionality of the unified Data Import Wizard and individual legacy data import wizards.
